It’s not all rainbows and unicorns at Google. Just like many Silicon Valley corporations, the environment is cut-throat competitive, middle management is often incompetent, which leads to a demoralized and burned out workforce. The Silicon Valley is the 21st century plantation. Googlers and others at high-tech companies are 21st century slaves.
For now, Google still has a high-flying stock to keep people happy. When the stock prices starts to weaken (it’s only a matter of time, it always is), then the whiners and complainers will really come out of the woodwork. Sadly, many of those same slaves will not see the decline coming, and they’ll be left holding the bag. Left to wonder whether it was all worth it. (Independent)
